For this project we were given the task to create a visually pleasing and responsive main menu and HUD to accompany a simple football game set in a theme of our choosing. I chose a theme of a championship between star systems.

The game was multiplayer, allowing for two players to control opposing characters on the same keyboard. The game has a timer and the game ends if two minutes pass, and depending on how many points, you either win the game, lose or tie. There is a minimap that shows where all players, as well as the ball, are located.

 

My Role

I worked individually on this task. I drew all the UI assets in photoshop and set up the main menu as well as the pause menu. I also programmed both player movements, the timer, the game rules and implemented the minimap.

 

Result

I learned how to set up a very responsive main menu, incorporating animations and sounds to the UI, and even a radial team selector.

 

Gameplay
